Getting there
Train to Barcelona airport: Rodalies R2 Nord
The Rodalies (commuter rail) R2 Nord line links the airport station with Barcelona-Sants in about 20 minutes and continues to Passeig de Gràcia and El Clot. It's the fastest way to get to Sants, but it only leaves from T2 and runs every half hour.

Timetable and tickets
Trains run roughly every 30 minutes from early morning (around 5:40 from the airport) until close to midnight. It doesn't run overnight. You can use a Rodalies single ticket, the T-casual (unlike on the metro, it is valid for the airport) or the Hola Barcelona card. Engineering works and disruption on Rodalies are common: check the service status before you travel.
Train or Aerobus?
If you're going to Sants or your hotel is near Passeig de Gràcia and you land at T2, the train is a great option. For Plaça Catalunya, Plaça Espanya or the Gothic Quarter, the Aerobus drops you closer, leaves from both terminals, runs far more often and operates 24 hours a day.
