Getting there
Taxi from Barcelona airport to the city centre: prices and tips
A taxi from El Prat airport to central Barcelona normally costs €30 to €40, depending on the time, traffic and exact destination. Barcelona taxis are black and yellow, have a meter and charge the official Metropolitan Area fares.
| Item (2026 fares) | Amount |
|---|---|
| Flag fall | €2.80 |
| Per kilometre on weekdays | €1.35 |
| Per kilometre on public holidays | €1.66 |
| Airport supplement (to or from) | €4.60 |
| Minimum fare from the airport, including supplements | €21 |
| Fixed price airport → Moll Adossat (cruises) | €46 |
| Sants station supplement | €2.55 |
Fares approved by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area for 2026. Waiting time in traffic jams is added to the meter amount.
Where to catch one
There are signposted taxi ranks outside the arrivals area at T1 and T2. Always take a taxi from the official rank and be wary of anyone offering you transport inside the terminal.
Tips
- Check that the meter is running when the journey starts and ask for a receipt at the end.
- Supplements (airport, port, Sants) are official and are added to the meter.
- At rush hour, the journey can go from 25 to more than 40 minutes, and the price rises with waiting time.
- If there are three or four of you, a taxi may cost about the same per person as the Aerobus; if you're on your own or a couple, the Aerobus is much cheaper.
Taxi or Aerobus
For one person, a taxi to the centre costs four to five times as much as a single Aerobus ticket (€7.75), and as the bus leaves every 5-10 minutes, you barely have to wait. The taxi wins if you're going to an address far from the Aerobus stops or if you're travelling as a group.
