The airport
Barcelona Airport Terminal 1 (T1)
T1 is El Prat's main building: a large terminal opened in 2009, home to most full-service airlines, intercontinental flights and IAG group carriers such as Vueling and Iberia. The Aerobus A1 line connects it with the centre.

How it's laid out
- Floor 0 – arrivals: passenger exit, baggage reclaim, the city-bound Aerobus stop, taxi ranks and car hire.
- Floor 3 – departures: check-in desks and access to security. This is where the A1 Aerobus drops you when you're flying.
- Departure area: after security, a large shopping area with shops, restaurants and VIP lounges, plus the piers with the boarding gates, including those for non-Schengen flights beyond passport control.
Terminal 1 airlines
T1 is used by Vueling, Iberia, Iberia Express and Level, as well as the major European and international carriers of the Oneworld, SkyTeam and Star Alliance alliances and most long-haul airlines. Allocations change with the seasons: always confirm your terminal with your airline.
Transport from T1
- Aerobus A1: leaves from the arrivals floor for Plaça Espanya, Gran Via, Plaça Universitat and Plaça Catalunya, in about 35 minutes.
- Metro L9 Sud: Aeroport T1 station is linked to the terminal by a walkway. You need a special airport ticket.
- R2 Nord train: doesn't reach T1. You have to take the shuttle to T2 and walk to the station.
- Taxi: the rank is outside arrivals.
Getting from T1 to T2
The free shuttle bus between terminals leaves from the T1 departures floor and takes about 10-15 minutes. Allow at least 20-30 minutes in total if you have to change terminal for a flight.
